This impressive Pauillac is performing even better from bottle than it did from barrel. Made by the staff at Mouton Rothschild, it is a blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Merlot and Cabernet Franc. A dense ruby/purple color is followed by a bouquet of grilled meats, subtle herbs, coffee, black currants, and a hint of camphor. The sweetness of the tannins, full-bodied mouthfeel, and stunning length, all in gorgeous symmetry, suggest this is one of the finest d’Armailhacs yet made. Moreover, it is still reasonably priced by the standards of this region. Anticipated maturity: now-2025. Score: 91 Points

そんなシャトー・ダルマイヤックのワインは樹齢の割には比較的に軽い仕上がりとなっているため、ムートン・ロートシルトとクレール・ミロンに比べると早めに飲み頃を迎えます。1985年以降はムートン・ロートシルトとクレール・ミロンに近づくようにワインの品質は向上を続け、近年はより良好な凝縮感や濃厚さが見られるように評価を上げているシャトーのひとつです。
ポイヤックの魅力が凝縮されたシャトー・ダルマイヤック、飲み口の柔らかい親しみやすいスタイルとなります。ボイヤックの特徴であるブラックベリーのリキュール、木樽や杉の香りにバロン・フィリップ・ド・ロスチャイルド家の特徴である、フルーツと木樽のニュアンスが感じられます。アルコール感も十分にあり、芳醇で、グラマラス、それにしてタンニンがひとつにまとめ上げる、ヴィンテージの違いはあっても安定した品質のワインが魅力的です。
